Your next prayer email will be with you on Friday. In the meantime, please see this week’s prayer below:

‘We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Lord listen! Lord forgive! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your name.’
Daniel 9:18b-19

Monday – Praise
‘I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.’

Psalm 145:1-3

Father God, we come before You this morning to worship and honour You. To thank You for who You are and for Your loving heart for Your people. We sit humbly but boldly at Your feet, in awe that You found such compassion in Your heart to adopt us as Your children. We are truly sorry for our brokenness, Lord, that inherently seeks to separate us from You. For the thoughts, actions and words that we have spoken over the past week that did not reflect You. We come before You now with open and repentant hearts, and confess those areas in our lives where we have not honoured You. Fill us afresh today!

Tuesday – World

‘If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’

2 Chronicles 7:14

We pray for today’s elections in the U.S.A. We pray that amidst the noise of the world You would still the hearts of Your people and that Your will would be done. We also pray against any violence and rioting linked to the results – might Your peace prevail!

And we pray for calm with the riots in Poland in response to the new anti-abortion laws and for a speedy recovery of their President from coronavirus. We also pray for our brothers and sisters across the world who are struggling to cope with the impact and restrictions of the virus on top of extreme poverty, corruption and persecution. We pray for Kenya, for Nigeria, for the tensions between India and China and also for those suffering the devastating consequences of the earthquake in Turkey and Greece.

Wednesday – Nation

‘I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon.’

Hosea 14:5

Lord, we pray for our nation and the continued crisis we find ourselves in. We pray for those who are living in fear or hopelessness, that You might place Christians in their path who can share the good news of Your everlasting hope and joy. We pray for the lonely, those battling mental health struggles and for those who don’t feel safe in their own homes at this time. Lord, have mercy on them and surround them with Your unfailing love. We pray for those who are suffering job losses or reduced hours, that You would provide for them and their families. We pray that they would be able to find work and that they would feel no embarrassment or shame in asking for help where it is needed. Place people and resources in their path, Father, that they might recognise Your heavenly intervention.

Thursday – Church

‘I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.’

Romans 12:1

Lord, we thank You for the opportunity to worship, to read Your word and to speak openly to You in prayer. You have blessed us so abundantly by placing us in a nation and culture where we do not have to fear persecution for our communion with You. We pray fervently for Your Kingdom to come in these days and for Your Church to grow, both in number and in faith. We offer ourselves up to You as living sacrifices today, that You might use our individual circumstances, gifts and talents for the extension of Your Kingdom and the discipling of those around us. May You grant us boldness and wisdom for Your great glory’s sake.

Friday – World Leaders

‘First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.’

1 Timothy 2:1-2

We pray for our world leaders, decision-makers, researchers and scientists, Lord. Would You guide them by the power of Your Holy Spirit that they would honour their positions of authority for the greater good of our world. We pray for honesty and integrity in this season, and ask that Your guiding hand might be on those making powerful and impactful decisions. May Your will be done!
